The Bay Area Leadership Foundation provides low-income, high-potential high school students with the support and resources needed to achieve success in high school, college and beyond.
To build future leaders with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their communities by offering mentoring, navigation through the college access process, and help securing college funding so motivated students with demonstrated personal achievement navigate the transition to college and complete their degree. After well over a decade, BALF is refining it focus to nurture its final student cohort through scholarships and mentoring.
WHO WE SERVE
● The majority are the first in their family to attend college. Most are underrepresented minorities who may lack a college-going tradition in their family and whose success is critical to closing the persistent educational achievement gap.
● Students in Oakland, Emeryville, Pittsburg, Richmond, Vallejo, and San Jose have benefited from the program.
● Student demographics have averaged 31% African American, 44% Latino, 20% Asian American and 4% White/other)
